Video Review Blog

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

Greenberg on Art Criticism- This video discussed the interview between T.J Clark and Clement Greenberg.  They discussed the concept of art criticism, the different views, and reflections of the modernist way of thinking.  Mr. Greenberg discussed his past and present career and beliefs.

Greenberg on Pollock- This video discussed the interview between T.J. Clark and Clement Greenberg.  During this interview they discussed the life achievements of the artists Pollock.  Pollock was considered what one to believe an outcast but his works were some of the most simple.

An Introduction to the Italian Renaissance- this video discussed the different lives of the artists that when the concept of art criticism came about in the 16th century.  This video discussed how each of the artists came about creating their own works and the different selected images that represented the Renaissance age of art.

The Critics: Stories from the Inside Pages- This video discussed the topic regarding critics in the public and artistic community that Dr. Dwight Dewrth Pallmeyer discovered.  He discovered this information by form of interviewing other reviewers and film critics.  I thought this video was the most helpful relating to the topic because the Dr. looked at the overall picture of the critics work and the stories behind it and their lives.

The Colonial Encounter: Views of Non- Western Art and Culture- This video's main focus was about the 18th century World Fair which during its creation it was considered to be a festivity of different cultures.  The different works of art that were displayed at the fair came through and are presented at museums currently to represent these past times.

Jackson Pollock: Michael Fried and T.J. Clark in Conversation- This video discussed the different opinions between Michael Fried and T.J. Clark.  Michael Fried part of his conversation focused on his views of paintings & sculptures.  While on the other hand T.J. Clark focused on the actually history of art itself.

2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Criticism project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.

I do believe that most of the videos relate to the project because each of the videos show a different views & critiques from that specific person.  It shows how they critique them and why.

 3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of art criticism?

I enjoyed the different required films.  They added depth and understanding to the concept of art criticism and clarified most of my confusion on the topic.
